I am a big believer that this system we live in today is not the way, it is not the only way. People should not be so trapped in their jobs that they have to almost always sacrifice their own happiness just to survive. We should not be limited to a week of vacation a year. As I’m working my first few minimum wage jobs and growing old enough to start paying for my own things, I’m realizing just how impossible it is for most people to go upwards and save money. And you know why? Because we are wage slaves. Continue reading “Wage Slaves – Koi Fresco”
The best and easiest asian noodle soup everrrr. So healthy and simple!
First chop up some garlic, ginger, and onion.
Sautee in coconut oil and then add some organic vegetable broth.
Next, soak a package of cellophane bean thread noodles in warm water for about 10 minutes until softened (package pictured in first picture).
Once softened add to the broth mixture and cook together for about 5 minutes (make sure it doesn’t get too mushy!!)
Pour in some soy sauce, and whatever else you may want! Green onions or chives and jalapeños work really well, or pretty much any vegetable you may have. Cilantro, basil, cabbage, sprouts, etc.
Top with lime slices and sriracha and devour!
“So many gods but no love for the people…… So many prayers yeah, but where’s the prayer for peace?”
Trevor Hall making me feel all flower power-y and peace loving every time I listen to him.. but also, so relevant.
It seems like everyday there’s a new tragedy being reported in the news. There’s always something brought up in daily conversation.
Did you hear what happened yesterday?
I find myself saying “which one? The one in _____ or the one in ________?”
It’s so casual. It’s small talk now.
I have no clever political standpoint or anything to say about democrats or republicans or ISIS or gun control. I have no hashtags or points to prove.
All I want to put out there is a true prayer for peace. My prayer isn’t to anything in particular, just to the world. I pray that humanity gains its sense of humanity again. I pray that we lose our overall sense of desensitized complacency and that we learn to love again.
Put your energy into something useful today. Listen to this song. Don’t watch the news for a bit. Don’t hate. The world’s got enough of that right now.
A concept I’ve been thinking about lately..
“You want others to create the society and you can then slip into it.. This is what we are all waiting for. A few struggle, work, create, and refuse to enter into this rat race. and the others say, “Yes, after you have constructed what you think is right society, then we’ll all join you.”
But we don’t do it together.
That’s the whole problem. Right?”
One of my rickshaw anthems that I blast nonstop (thanks Tati for introducing me)
Fall is officially here and there’s nothing I love more than waking up on a Sunday with a gloomy view and pumpkin spice waffles. Not to mention a huge stack of newly thrifted and bargain-bought books.
Lately I’ve been making a lot of trips to Lake Tahoe to see my new friend Emma, and I’m really starting to fall in love with it it and the surrounding forests. There are so many beautiful places in Tahoe, and I haven’t even seen an 8th of it. & My gopro is working again, so I finally am going to be able to start taking some crazy adventure pictures! Should be super useful for what is coming up 🙂
I’ve also obviously rekindled my love for reading and have managed to stack up a pile of 14 new books in the last 2 weeks (???) I have problems.
Since I’ve been reading so much lately & plan to remain holed up in a burrito of blankets and books, I thought I’d share some of my favorites, and some really awesome ones on my to-read-list. I’ve also been getting a lot of questions about some good documentaries, so I’m also going to share those as well as really good films!
Hopefully this list will keep you busy during the cold weather
I’d love to hear what you think of them 🙂
